John Adams sent Ford on a mission to stop the terrorist Prometheus and retrieve the All-Seeing Eye. Ford was forced to trek the mission alone because Prometheus had used the Bug to sway Trust soldiers on to his side. Ford was supplied with a Trust Visor and thus Adams was able to view Ford's progress. Michael was then able to retrieve the ASE and was sent aboard a subway station where he was to take down Prometheus, his hunt led him to Bunker 13 where he found a special type of Neurotoxin, which is likely the Bug. Prometheus himself then contacts Michael through the ASE. Michael asks for Prometheus to call off his forces, only to have the latter reveal that the whole plot was a set-up. After assisting Michael defeat the Drudge forces at the memorial, Prometheus reveals that he has found a Drudge base underneath the Library of Congress. Michael goes to the tunnels beneath the library, with Trust armour on, and destroys the Drudge nest. There, Adams contacts Michael and offers for him to rejoin the Trust, to which Michael replies "Go to Hell".

Michael then saves the president again, this time from puppet soldiers and Drudge forces. However, Michael's foolishness at going head-on into the mission, despite Prometheus' requests, cause the president to hand over control to the Trust. Michael would continue to fight against Adams, by next stopping him from gaining control of the US defense plans by stopping the Drudge from invading the Pentagon.
Agent Michael Ford was an ace member of the United States Secret Service, protecting people in office (such as the President) before being recruited into The Trust. High Voltage Software Producer Josh Olson described Ford as, "Clean cut, has a square jaw, and doesn't drink or smoke. He is idealistic and follows orders. He believes in honor, duty, service to country."

Michael was then alerted by Prometheus of the Trusts headquarters in Georgetown, where Ford wasted little time arriving at, by going through the city sewers and then a giant conduit. Ford quickly detained all Trust and Drudge operatives in the headquarters before finding the body of a progenitor, who Prometheus revealed to be himself. Michael absorbed Prometheus' body into the ASE to act further as a guide. In an effort to destroy the Trust, Michael destroyed the base and escaped it via a Conduit.

Destroying the Trust headquarters would not destroy the Trust as Michael would find out as he arrived on another one of their bases, the GLOMAR Oil Rig, this rig would soon be destroyed by the Leviathan. The Leviathan itself would take Ford to Atlantis where he would become the Destroyer by donning the Destroyer exoskeleton suit. Ford would then travel to Washington, D.C. to plot his next move on Adams, where the Free Drudge would honor him as the Liberator. Michael would then go around the globe, absorbing the energies of progenitors, in total taking four, including Prometheus' who then sacrificed himself. Atlantis was then attacked by Adams himself, whom Michael attacked and defeated, with the ASE signalling Tiamat and past Destroyer's arriving, claiming to want to "help" Michael.

On March 1, 2012, Mr. Ford saved President Charles Thompson from an assassination attempt. Due to that act of patriotism, and also from being greatly impressed by Ford's work during the Aero-Evac Incident, Ford was recruited by Trust Commander John Adams to the organization known as The Trust. With permission from President Thompson, Adams sent him on a crucial mission to track down a supposed terrorist named Prometheus, and to retrieve the valuable stolen experimental prototype device taken from a classified research facility.

As a new recruit to The Trust organization, Ford's first mission was detailed in the capture of Prometheus, dead or alive, and to retrieve a stolen experimental prototype device that was from the a classified research facility. The mission was personally assigned by John Adams with details regarding the mission followed by the current location of Prometheus. All available Trust Field Agents and U.S. Army Special Forces soldiers were to be aiding Ford during this mission and with all civilians clear of the location. Prometheus and his men were heading to Reagan National Airport in an attempt to escape from the classified research facility. Along with a few weapons, Ford was supplied with a Trust visor, so Adams and the Trust could monitor the situation. Field agents and available military forces were to be waiting at the airport for Ford's arrival, but instead, upon Ford entering the complex, he was ambushed by said allies. Surprised by the attack, John Adams issued an order to Ford stating that they must be eliminated and noted how Prometheus was able to turn all allies against Ford. As Ford made his way through the airport he encounters many Trust Field Agents and Army Special Forces along with containers emitting a strange orange gas. Guided by Adams, he is told to go down to the underground subway terminal. As Ford makes it onto the train, passing by each carriage, Ford comes across both Military Forces and Prometheus' men. Making it to the last carriage, Ford is met by one of Prometheus' men who in a suicide attempt detonates a group of Trust power Cells which caused an explosion, destroying the train. Fortunately Ford survived the explosion and retrieved the stolen prototype device from the debris. It is revealed by Adams that the experimental prototype device is known as the All-Seeing Eye, a universal cipher. Adams had also noted that it appeared that Prometheus was not aboard on the train which lead Ford to his next assignment.

Due to the previous mission, Adams had decided to send Ford in solo for his next assignment. His next mission details infiltrating Prometheus' based in Bunker 13, an abandoned military complex beneath Washington D.C. and to download all the data from the computers inside the complex. During this mission, Ford's visor was linked directly to President Thompson for viewing. As Ford makes his way through the underground bunker, he comes across many soldiers-turned-puppets who attack him. Upon making it to the computers and downloading the data, Adams notes that the information from the data reveals that Prometheus had developed a special type of Neurotoxin which allowed him to turn Adams men into his puppets. According to the information downloaded, active containers of the Neurotoxin were to be located in the second floor infirmary of Bunker 13. Upon making his way to the infirmary, Ford discovers alien life-forms called Drones who were guarding the Neurotoxin containers along with the discovery of portals that they came out from, named Conduits. After the Neurotoxin is destroyed, it is revealed by Adams that some of it is missing and that Bunker 13 has access to the water filtration plant. In an attempt to stop the leak of Neurotoxin into the general water supply, Ford enters the water filtration area and destroys the steam valves causing the system to overload. After doing so, Ford makes his escape and comes out near the Jefferson Memorial where Ford is congratulated by Adams and then betrayed and left to die by the hands of the alien invasion. As Ford was fighting off alien forces, Prometheus- the supposed terrorist, contacted Ford through the ASE, stating he would like to help him. Ford asks for Prometheus to call off his forces, but Prometheus reveals that they were never his to begin with. Surviving the onslaught of Drudge forces, Prometheus sends a helicopter to the steps of the Memorial to airlift Ford to safety.

Immediately afterward, Prometheus implores Ford to destroy a major Drudge nesting site underneath the Library of Congress. Ford, still not ready to completely trust Prometheus, begrudgingly goes along with the request after being supplied with a prototype Trust body armor that could regenerate its' user's health. At the start of the mission, Ford is attacked by a group of Trust Field Agents and is contacted by Adams, surprised that Ford survived the wave of Drudge Forces, Adams asks Ford to rejoin The Trust. Ford refuses and tells him to "go to hell". Adams states he will keep the offer open, and then ends communication with Ford. As Ford makes his way through the library of congress, he discovers Mites, a type of Drudge force, other Trust Field Agents and Trust Elite Agents using Trust Weaponry. Ford must make it to the central reading room in order to access the computers to gain the access codes to the underground sewage system under the Library of Congress. Hacking the computer then triggered the fail-safe system, causing the deletion of data and Drudge Mite forces to advance on Fords position. Ford is told by Prometheus that he needs time to gather the data before the system shuts down. After doing so, the underground access codes were safely recovered. Prometheus then tells Ford to clear the area of remaining Drudge forces. After, Prometheus then enters the access codes allowing Ford to advance to the underground sewage system, where Ford annihilates the Drudge nests.

Some time later, Prometheus contacts Ford again, with news that the Drudge are attacking the White House, in a bid to kill Charles Thompson and subsequently have all control over America given to the Trust. Fighting his way though the East and West wings, Ford ensures the President's escape in Marine One. The President, however, mistakes Ford for a Trust agent, and relinquishes his power to the Trust anyway, convinced that only Adams and his organization could defend America. Ford would later rout the Drudge from the Pentagon, securing the defense codes from the Situation Room before the Drudge could steal them. Finally, Prometheus had narrowed down the location of The Drudge staging area to somewhere in Georgetown. After a long and harrowing battle though the ravaged streets and sewers, Ford found a gigantic Conduit inside the city's subway system. Taking out the latest squad of Drudge forces, Ford begins to trust Prometheus a little more, entering the Conduit at Prometheus' request.

The Conduit takes Ford inside the Trust's headquarters, where Ford wastes little time in tearing though the facility searching for Adams. Before Ford can enter the elevator to the Trust's innermost sanctum, he and Prometheus finally meet. Prometheus is revealed to be a captured alien in stasis, who had his DNA sampled to create the Drudge. Prometheus implored Ford to destroy his body, to stop the creation of new Drudge soldiers. With Prometheus vaporized, Ford headed into the elevator to chase Adams.

After clearing out the remaining Trust personnel and waves of Drudge forces coming though multiple Conduits, Adams, far away from the Trust base at this point, disables the elevator and the Conduits, informing Ford that the Trust base will self-destruct with him in it. Suddenly, Prometheus' voice came from the ASE, and explained that while Ford was vaporizing his body, he uploaded his consciousness into the ASE. Prometheus suggested that Ford could re-route power from various consoles in the base into a single Conduit- with no way of knowing where it would lead. Forced to release some Scarabs from their stasis capsules, Ford fought through another wave of Drudge warriors and into the open Conduit.

Conduit 2
Ford and Prometheus are ejected from the other side of the Conduit onto an oil derrick off the coast of Florida. Taking the few Trust guards by surprise, Ford steps inside the derrick, where he is trapped in a small room by Adams. Adams, surprised to see Ford again, informs him that D.C. was obliterated in a nuclear blast from the Trust base- a 50-mile radius that likely took the lives of not only innocent civilians, but Ford's family too, before flooding the room with a noxious gas. Breaking out of the room, Ford fights though the derrick in search of Adams, only to come full circle and see Adams about to enter the same Conduit that he came out of. Adams enters the Conduit just as a massive sea serpent, the Leviathan, rises up from the ocean and smashes the platform. Ford cleans out the remaining Trust forces on the derrick, and tries to attract the attention of the Leviathan, whom Prometheus believes is the best way off the derrick.

High Voltage Software claim that in the creation of Michael Ford they wanted to make him an 'everyman,' rather than an exaggerated 'macho' character as is the stereotype associated with shooting games, like Duke Nukem. He was designed to allow the player to relate to him, whilst still providing some mystery and character throughout the game's plot twists.

Ironically in Conduit 2, Ford is voiced by Jon St. John, who also voices Duke Nukem. Michael Ford's personality also changes drastically from "everyman" to "macho action hero". An example of this would be Ford occasionally blurting out one-liners during fights or making jokes after Prometheus says something.

Michael Ford is the protagonist of The Conduit and Conduit 2, and therefore the character you play as. He is a former Secret Service agent that was recruited by a mysterious secret organization known as The Trust, after he saved President Charles Thompson from an assassination attempt.[1] In the first game he was voiced by Mark Sheppard, in Conduit 2 Jon St. John does it.

Biography

Secret Service

Following his graduation from West Point, Michael Ford joined the US Military. He was asked to become a Secret Service agent, which he accepted. John Adams began to use Michael as a puppet in his plot and placed Ford as a member of the presidents protection squad. When the rest of the squad tried to kill Charles Thompson, Ford was the presidents savior. He was the inducted into The Trust.[2]

The Trust

John Adams sent Ford on a mission to stop the terrorist Prometheus and retrieve the All-Seeing Eye. Ford was forced to trek the mission alone because Prometheus had used the Bug to sway Trust soldiers on to his side. Ford was supplied with a Trust Visor and thus Adams was able to view Ford's progress. Michael was then able to retrieve the ASE and was sent aboard a subway station where he was to take down Prometheus, his hunt led him to Bunker 13 where he found a special type of Neurotoxin, which is likely the Bug. Ford then makes his way from Bunker 13 to the Jefferson Memorial, where Adams reveals to him that aliens called the Drudge are invading. Adams then betrays Michael and leaves him to die at the hands of the Drudge.

Prometheus

The Destroyer

Quotes

"My name is Michael Ford. I'm probably the only one left who knows the truth...I know it, because I was there."

"All right. I'll go with you for now, but if you're lying to me, I'll take you down hard. Do you understand me?"

"Adams! What kind of game are you playing!?"

"You're next, Adams."

"I was thrown up, wasn't I? Ugh, don't answer that."

[Upon learning the truth about Prometheus] "I was wrong about you... I'm sorry."

[While Adams is asking if he thinks he can make a difference] "Sometimes one man is all it takes."

"You want me to walk around miles of hostile territory, poking around for a drudge nest?"

(Answering Andromeda's concern about the A.S.E.) "This? I took it from a psycotic progenitor, John Adams. Ever since, he's been trying to kill me, I've been trying to kill him, It's sort of a 'thing' we have."

To him, serving his country - and the values his parents instilled to him - matters above all else. He's realized that perhaps he trust his authority figures too much. While it's led him to this life, its also why he failed to ask the right questions and take the right actions.
